Biography

A graduate of UTS, Australia with a Master of Creative Arts (documentary | VR) and Macquarie Uni in screen and media studies, Renée Brack is a storyteller, journalist, writer & screen professional with experience in film, TV, print & digital. She has written, produced & directed short films; scripted and directed plays produced in the world’s largest play festival, Short+Sweet; pioneered research into a scripting template for immersive content (VR, CVR, 360) originated by filmmaker Elia Petridis of Fever Content, LA & scripted the award-winning short film Red Handed which has screened in multiple international film festivals, directed by Tony Tilse, produced by Chris Ramos & earned an AACTA cinematography nomination for DoP, Ron Howard.

Under the Mandible Media shingle, she has a development slate and rights catalogue of mostly female-centric stories for screen, audio & books. A recent film is the award-winning social impact documentary Ticketyboo: a Secret in Plain Sight about art, dementia & staying connected to people we love living with a diagnosis which she wrote, directed & co-produced. It earned her a Master of Storytelling award. The companion book is Ticketyboo: An Illustrated Story of Learning to Love Dementia available on Amazon, Apple and Smashwords platforms. The Australian premiere is on SBS in September 2025 with various international SVOD to follow.

Written, directed and co-produced by Renée, Carshare is suspenseful thriller with a heartwarming twist & is winning awards on the international film festival circuit in 2025. Awards so far include Best Narrative Short & Best Female Director.

A common response to her writing is, “I’ve never looked at it that way before” – testament to her creative & fresh approach to the stories she crafts.

At SAE University College, she gives back to the filmmaking community by nurturing emerging screen professionals creating a range of award-winning films, documentary & web series, over-seeing production from concept to transmission.

She is also a frequent speaker, Q&A panelist & judge / juror for film festivals, & currently immersed in a PhD on the impact producer charting alternative pathways to funding & audience.
